Weddings have existed for generations, but the demand for marriage has evolved with time. According to The Week, marriage was less about love and more about creating powerful allegiances centuries ago. In reality, “marriage was regarded too serious a thing to be based on such a weak emotion,” therefore getting married for romantic love is very new.

Love and romance, on the other hand, became the most common grounds for marriage in the last three to four centuries, and this trend has remained to this day.

In the previous few decades, weddings have also become more elaborate. According to Bustle, couples from the United States are the top spenders on weddings, with the typical couple spending $29,200 on their special day. With the introduction of social media, it has become more popular to go above and above for a wedding in order for the images to best express the love and happiness of the day.

However, one Philippine couple demonstrated that a wedding does not have to break the bank because the day is first and foremost about the love you share with your partner. Rosalyn Ferrer and Rommel Basco, in fact, have been homeless for the past 24 years of their relationship and could not afford a wedding. When one business owner learned of their story, he decided to offer the couple a beautiful wedding photoshoot and even rallied his friends to help pay for a future Church wedding.

Rosalyn Ferrer and Rommel Basco, both in their 50s, are a Filipino couple who have been together for nearly two decades. According to Metro UK, they lived in poverty on the streets of Pampanga province. The family lives in a small cabin that was once part of a wasteland, and the couple has six children. The couple couldn’t even afford food, let alone have enough money for a wedding.

Ferrer and Basco have figured out how to earn enough money for food on a daily basis by collecting abandoned plastics to sell as scrap throughout the years, but this is insufficient to sustain their huge family. They met Richard Strandz while collecting scrap and plastic for money, and it turned out to be a fruitful encounter for the couple.

Strandz owns a hair salon and used to work close Ferrer and Basco’s home. He knew he wanted to help the couple as soon as he understood their story.

Strandz remarked, “I found out about how the two have been living together for almost two decades yet can’t afford a little wedding.”

He contacted a network of friends after learning they couldn’t afford a wedding to see if they could help him plan a surprise wedding and photoshoot for Ferrer and Basco, and the reaction was overwhelming. Strandz’s buddies planned a makeover for the couple as well as a surprise wedding with a picture session on February 13, 2021, the day before Valentine’s Day.

“I used to fantasize about having a white wedding when I was younger. It’s been a long time since I’ve thought about it “Ferrer explained. “We never had enough money and focused only on ensuring that we had enough food to eat each day.

Now I consider myself quite fortunate that this has occurred. I’m quite grateful.”

While the marriage was not legally binding, Strandz and his wedding-industry connections planned to assist the couple in obtaining a marriage license and funding their church wedding in 2021.

“True love is something to be thankful for. It’s unique, whether you’re wealthy or impoverished “Strandz remarked.

Rab4Love Studios took the Artistry Photos, which were then shared on the company’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

They often make cinematic and sophisticated images to express the subject’s tale that lasts a lifetime, according to their Facebook page description.

The duo is shown committing modest acts of love and standing as a united front in the images. Ferrer wore a variety of cream and nude gowns during the shoot, while Basco wore outfits in comparable colors. They took the images in the streets of their neighborhood, and the children were included. It’s incredibly moving to see the entire family come together for such a significant milestone in the couple’s lives.

Basco and Ferrer don’t need money to understand the importance of love and family, and their images show their feelings for one another. Stories like this demonstrate the importance of community and support.
